    When it comes to things like this, 9 times out of 10 its the builder and not the architect. Usually the screw up comes during building, or after the building has already been erected and a change is made. Typically the original blueprints were just fine.

    Sorry, I used to work in an architectural office. (Long Story) In our case it was always the builders who could not follow the blueprints, and yet the owners/funders always called the architects first.

    Usually those conversations ended with, "Well, if they had followed the blueprints...", after a quick visit to the site, and a mini lesson for the builders on how to read blueprints.

    What do you think goes through a builder's mind when he is building stairs to nowhere, or a balcony over train tracks...
