That statement is worthy of a big positive vote up!

The sad thing is that I'll probably pay the money to be rid of Vista, and hope Windows 7 is better.

You're kidding right? All of you above my post have got to be kidding. Vista was a huge step up from XP. While it's not perfect, remember no software is.

My computer is over 4 years old. It came with XP SP2 on it and I formatted to Vista earlier this year. I fail to see the problems people have with it. Vista works perfectly well, though I will admit that everything I've heard says Windows 7 will perform better than XP in virtually every way.

      Could be a coincidence but...

      1. JEdit (a java based development IDE I use for coding Buxr) is unusably slow on opening files from NFS mounted drive. Never had a problem on XP

      2. We went to Florida and I had to restart Vista every time my computer went to sleep, otherwise it wouldn't see the hotel network

      3. Firefox freezes twice as often on Vista than on my other computer running XP (both have same FF version). Same true for Adobe Reader.

      1. Could be an issue with JEdit. Honestly I've never heard of it so I can't really say for sure. Usually Java related things are slow regardless. Look at Firefox, many people complain it's way too slow to open.

      2. Who made your laptop? I've heard of some similar issues with a few manufacturers and it's a problem due to the configuration that the manufacturers did.

      3. I've never had Firefox freeze on Vista. It's gotten lagged pretty bad, but that's because I run appx. 40 tabs and it's often something Flash based that lags Firefox to near freeze. I also don't use Adobe Reader, I use Foxit. Too many people have issues with Adobe Reader, it's well known for being slow and bloated.
