Why some people put '%' before the discount?

submitted on September 10, 2009 by MrCheap in "Member's Lounge"
I was always curious why some people here put '%' in front of the discount. I've seen it a few times. Here is an example:

Is this just a typo or does '%' go before the discount in some languages?

I try to correct them if I can catch them in time. For some, a "percentage" is more pronounced than the actual number amount.

I have long since given up on trying to figure out why people do the things they do.

Habit, ignorance, and boredom likely explain most things.
