Why does Buxr change when I sign in?

submitted on March 19, 2014 by bkchavez in "Buxr Website / Contests"
I'm still learning, but, lately, I notice that the homepage (including top deals and number of votes) and "hot deals" line-up change when I sign in. Some deals disappear completely, when I sign in. Yet, if I sign out, they reappear. Today, it happened when I was looking for a Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill deal. I saw it, signed in to vote on another deal and it was gone. (I even searched for it.) I signed out and it reappeared. Am I just missing something?

Do you have Smokey Bones in your home state? The reason Smokey Bones deals disappear for you is that the restaurant chain has restaurants only in those states. When you login Buxr will match up the address you configured in your profile with each deal and hide those from merchants not available in your state.

To change this behavior go to the deals page at this link:
    http://www.buxr.com/deals
...and change Area from "My State" (default value) to "All Deals". You can find the controls on the right hand side of the page in a group called "Customize the view"

    Here's how it looks like:

You may need to set the area to All Deals. It may be filtered to your state currently.

I had no idea I could customize my view. You learn something new everyday, right? Thank you.

I only knew because one of my own deals once disappeared and I asked about it! I submitted it, it was there and then it wasn't - couldn't figure it out. Funny how much there is to learn on this site, huh?

      i know!
i like to be able to see ALL the deals, even those that are not in my state because i can get into at least 4 other states in less than an hours time. it also helps when i am traveling. sometimes i find deals and pass them along to my friends who can use them.

I've been on the site for over 3 years and I still find I'm learning new things too. The wiki has been very helpful for me.
