When a "deal of the day" isn't the best buy (take a poll)

submitted on May 19, 2011 by HouTex in "Sales / Promotions"
According to a survey by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, 23 million Americans, or 10 percent of the adult population, purchased a coupon from a "deal of the day" website in the past year.

I wasn't surprised to learn that many people bought on impulse, but didn't realize that 20% of the buyers never even redeem the deals! Eeek

Read more at http://www.cbsnews.com/stories.....3228.shtml for tips to make your daily deal purchase more successful. The article even includes links to a few sites that will help you sell those deals you wish you hadn't bought. Mr Green

In general, I like these offers, but I did have one failure. I purchased a voucher from BuyWithMe for movie tickets through Weekly Cinema, a site that failed to honor the vouchers. But BuyWithMe contacted me to refund the money and added a 10% credit on another deal. In general, I've found that the deal sites I've used have good customer service. Cool

I bought the Band-aid deal yesterday and surprisingly my account was charged today! I didn't need them but thought for the kids it would be a fun thing! I have had great
    deals from Buxr!

Don't be sorry! I got the deal! I can use them next school year when the kids I assist want to skip their work and dream up an excuse that they need a band-aid to go to the nurses office! When I think about it...20 band-aids in a box and four boxes with the $4.95 shipping! I think maybe they are a little high on their prices and will not make it in the real world!

I would think this would fall into the category of mail-in rebates. Great if you use them, but a lot of people either forget or don't want to bother.

I only purchased two daily deals, the Amazon $20 for $10 from living Social and the online Wine store certificate $80 for $20 (don't remember the name). Also, I once got in on a movie tickets deal from Groupon but the company offering it went bankrupt and Groupon refunded the purchase. Overall - satisfied but I can see where you can get burnt if you are not doing the due research before jumping on a deal

I've purchased several now; one from ShoeBuy on Groupon, the Amazon offer on Living Social, the eBay offer (can't remember where), and 2 from local restaurants on Morgan's Deals. I always seem to use mine within a week of purchase and have been satisfied. No bad ones yet. Big Grin

Groupon Orlando...Friendly Confines my Sports Bar Restaurant! Great deal but maybe not for the Bar. I also got an awesome Bath & Body Works Groupon and a Orlando Coupon Book from Groupon. I have really not gotten any bad deals on Buxr with the exceptions of the ones that were never received.
