What time do deals expire?

submitted on January 6, 2012 by HouTex in "Buxr Website / Contests", last updated on November 5, 2014 by HouTex

Did you ever wonder exactly when deal posts expire on Buxr?

Sometimes you may notice that the daily deals seem to overlap a little bit. That is because for a specific calendar day they are set to start at midnight ET and expire at midnight PT. That covers all the possibilities for different time zones and simplifies those few deals that may expire at 2am or 3am CT or ET.

So, there's no need to expire them manually an hour or two early, if the date is set they will expire automatically. Wink

And deals that expire at 2:59am tomorrow should be set to expire with today's date.

Don't forget to include the date in the proper fields, so this function will work correctly.
It doesn't work when the dates are only posted in the description.

I appreciate you bumping this one up... I did this today since I knew my deal expired in the morning.

Giving this topic a little bump to explain why deals that expire at 2:59am ET (which is the same as 11:59pm PT) should be set to expire with the previous day's date.

How far the next day do you count the deal expiration as the previous day's?
    2:59 a.m. ET?
    NOT 3:59 a.m. ET? 4:59...5:59...?
    Confused

      From the topic -
deals that expire at 2:59am tomorrow should be set to expire with today's date.

From the comment above yours, which includes the reason) -
deals that expire at 2:59am ET (which is the same as 11:59pm PT) should be set to expire with the previous day's date.

On Buxr deals are automatically started at midnight ET and ended at midnight PT. Otherwise they have to be manually expired. This way we avoid showing a deal the entire next day as still active when it has already ended during the night.
