Walmart Plans to Close 154 US Stores, Affecting 10,000 Workers

submitted 327 days ago by HouTex in "Stores / Merchants"
After a thorough review of their nearly 11,600 stores, Walmart will close a total of 269 locations worldwide (less than 1% of their square footage and revenue). They plan to open 300 new stores around the world next year.
The company will close 154 locations in the U.S., including the company’s 102 smallest format stores, Walmart Express, which had been in pilot since 2011. Walmart instead will focus on strengthening Supercenters, optimizing Neighborhood Markets, growing the e-commerce business and expanding Pickup services for customers. Also covered in the closures are 23 Neighborhood Markets, 12 Supercenters, seven stores in Puerto Rico, six discount centers, and four Sam’s Clubs.

We don't shop at Walmart because in the past times all the shelves were empty and I could not get everything I needed there.

I leave the house at 6am to go to school. I love shopping the Walmart Super-center because no one is there. Yes I have to work around closed aisles because they are cleaning the floors but it is convenient because i do ibotta so I don't have to scan the items individually because they have the bar code.
