Voting down expired deals

submitted on October 29, 2008 by YanBz in "Buxr Website / Contests"
My and Mikes take has always been this: Don't vote down an expired deal just because you couldn't take advantage of it. Flag it 'dead' instead to let others know it doesn't work any longer.

On the other hand you don't want to vote an expired deal up either because short lived deals have less value and there is no reason to give a vote to a deal that lasted only a couple hours

What do you think? Is voting down an expired deal appropriate?

Absolutely not. We have no control over it. Some people have posted deals only to have them expired in a few minutes. Is it their fault that the item is sold out? That to me is a HOT deal. As for expired coupon codes, that's out of our hands. As long as they were valid when they were posted. Thanks for bringing this up.

YOU ARE RIGHT STEVE. WE NEVER KNOW WHAT TYPE OF STOCK THE STORE HAS. IT WOULDN'T BE FAIR TO PUNISH THE POSTER.

For me it does depended a little on how quickly the deal goes down. If its within the first hour, I have reservations about voting on it, but otherwise it does not really affect my voting.
