Best strategy for winning monthly contest

submitted on October 22, 2008 by LadyZaxxon in "Buxr Website / Contests"
JUST VOTE BAD DEALS DOWN. A 10 CENT PRICE DROP ON A FLASH DRIVE IS A JOKE NOT A DEAL.

I HAVE A TOTAL OF 37 POINTS FOR THE MONTHLY CONTEST. MY FRIEND EMMA HAS 39 POINTS WITH 36 DEALS AND BIONICLE HAS 41 POINTS WITH 86 DEALS. I HAVE POSTED 1 DEAL FOLKS AND NONE OF YOU FOOLS VOTED FOR IT. THAT DEAL WAS HOT ON EVERY OTHER SITE.

Thanks for your comments. Just voting in general will help the site.

LadyZaxxon, you make it sound like you can win the monthly contest by just voting. Granted you can get a big advantage when you vote a lot but even if you vote up every single deal you will not have enough points.

The math is simple. 4 deals a day for 30 days makes it 120 points. Last month #3 was Emma with 130 points. Do you see what I mean?

I think the best approach is to vote a lot and submit a few deals here and there. You really just need to score around 3-4 best deals during the month to get a prize

Well said. I think some members have tunnel vision at Buxr. It's much more effective to vote and submit, than to just submit deals. Or submit and hope that users vote on your deals.

I think voting helps you with your own deals a lot. Like Solstice said - scratch my back I will scratch yours. Wink

Your deals still have to be hot but there is some of that on Buxr

      BIONICLE IS ON THE LIST.

AND IT CAN NOT HURT BECAUSE I DON'T SUBMIT DEALS.

I can say there are two types of vote. One is appreciation vote and another is winning vote. You can understand what i mean. From starting of the month I used to vote postive for every good deal to average deal with out take care of whose deal. But some members never gave me appriciation vote (only winning vote) so now i have to think before posting my votes.

NO. REWARD GOOD DEALS. VOTE DOWN BAD DEALS. NO APPRECIATION NECESSARY.

    1. On a side note, thats the second time I've been quoted today, which I find flattering. Wink

    2. I voted for the deal you posted LadyZaxxon, and it was a really hot deal. So please scratch me off the fool list.

    3. Its true that calling others fools probable does won't help, but I understand what you talking about as well. I myself have posted hot deals taken off of other sites and seen them just do miserably here. This crowd seems to have completely different tastes that other deal sites located on the net, which is actually participate here. The monetary incentive helps a little too , Cha-Ching! Big Grin

    4. TheBest said it best (Ha-Ha, bad Pun!) when she mentioned "appreciation" votes. I bet if you posted more items you might see more of a response, as you vote a lot for other people and we see that. Its just hard to vote more for you since you only posted one deal so far, giving us the opportunity to vote for you would help. Smile

Today I want to share some secrets “ How to win monthly contest? ”

First of all (for new members) This is the third time I am going to win monthly contest.

    1) Your contest starts from last day of the previous month , because result will declare on 1st day of month and that will count for next month.
Like , on Nov.1st result will be declared for deals of Oct.31st.
So you have to concentrate from last day of the previous month.

    2) Only posting the good deals is not sufficient to win monthly contest, you have to post votes for others.
There are some strategy for voting also Like,
    1) Post positive Vote for every average deals to good deals and Post your negative votes with logical reason. “Product is not available or not in my area“. Or “Product reviews are not good“. Or “I have seen good price (without link to that good price deal)“ . These are not the logical reason.

    Another strategy (Wait and Watch)
    2) Post your positive vote for everyone’s deals (good deals) for three -four days. Now Wait And Watch Now If you get votes in return from those members then vote for them otherwise vote only if their deal is going to win Wink . But never post negative votes for anyone’s deal without logical reason.

    3) Last and Worst strategy
Post your votes only for deals those are going to be best or worst deals. This is the worst strategy and with in 3-4 days everyone will catch you and then you will not get support from other members .

    3) Now how your deal should be ?
There should be some variety and freshness in your deals, like some coupons, some electronics, some items for house and garden, for travels.

    4) Presentation of Deal

It should be simple and understandable. It should be look like a deal not an advertisement.

And good news for all of you ,
I am not going to partcipate in next monthly contest but relax!!!! I will post my votes for you.

Excellent list of tips for the newbies.

PS: Listen to TheBest on this one, as most of these are the same reasons that govern my voting choices.

Also, I'm going to be posting far less deals next month as well, so that should be one less competition to worry about. Therefore, now is the time to refine your deal hunting skills, and to learn how to cast votes that help both you and others. Remember..its a scratch my back and I'll scratch yours scenario.

I kinda knew about #1 but never pay attention to it. I guess when each point counts it could be very important. Great tips, TheBest, thank you!

I think that all undermines what this site is about. I am here because I love a good deal, and I am cheap. The daily deal prize is a bonus, but not my main goal. This sounds like a high school cliche.

That is what I am doing lately. I had my share of winnings, now I am just returning the favor by voting up good and voting down bad deals Smile
