Verizon offers trade-in credit for AT&T iPhones

submitted on January 28, 2011 by anand in "Sales / Promotions"
Verizon has broken AT&T's exclusive hold on the iPhone in the U.S. and is looking to tempt some of the latter's customers with an attractive trade-in offer.

A Verizon spokesperson says that anyone is eligible for trade-in credit for any phone and it's not specific to iPhones. The credit they will receive (in the form of a gift card) is based on the condition of the phone. Note, however, that using the gift card to purchase an iPhone means paying the full retail price instead of the subsidized $199 and $299 prices for the 16GB and 32GB iPhone models, respectively. The gift card can also be put toward a monthly wireless bill.

Even Verizon generic phones offer more features than ATT for less and Verizon phones last longer.

This could save provider switchers from AT&T the trouble of selling their old iPhones to move to Verizon, and the trade-in value they're assigning is pretty decent.
$60 for an original 16GB iPhone
    $105 for a 16GB iPhone 3G
    $160 for a 32GB iPhone 3GS
    $280 for a 16GB iPhone 4
    $360 for a 32GB iPhone 4

I'm curious to see how many people actually make the switch now that they can (those unhappy AT&T customers who always said they would switch if they could).

Sorry to hear that laaya, I just have a superb experience in getting another $25 activation fee free and asked for bonus minutes since we were over our limit; hence $55.65 credit on my Verizon bill! Not even on HOLD but 2 minutes! Smile
