Unlock your AT&T Phones ( 2 yr & above)

submitted on April 8, 2012 by onkarkulkarni in "Products / Gadgets"
Good news for those who are reeling with AT&T even after the contract term is over and thinking of switching over to a different carrier. Now you can do it without the hassles of early termination or any fees. AT&T has made it easier to unlock your phones once the 2 year contract term is over provided your account is still in good standing.

Official quote from AT&T:

Beginning Sunday, April 8, we will offer qualifying customers the ability to unlock their AT&T iPhones. The only requirements are that a customer's account must be in good standing, their device cannot be associated with a current and active term commitment on an AT&T customer account, and they need to have fulfilled their contract term, upgraded under one of our upgrade policies or paid an early termination fee.

T-Mobile has been doing it for years. In fact you can unlock your T-Mobile phone just 3 months into your contract (yes, you don't have to wait till the contract is over). I personally have done it twice with my phones when I had to travel abroad and use my phone with a foreign carrier...
