Two Months After Debut, Microsoft Kills Kin Phone

submitted on June 30, 2010 by HouTex in "Products / Gadgets"

Microsoft historians will be hard-pressed to remember a faster about-face on a product launch. In retrospect, though, this won't leave many shocked.

Microsoft plans to continue selling Kin phones in the US through Verizon, but will not ship them to Europe as planned.

So why would anyone want to buy an orphaned Kin?

"We have made the decision to focus on our Windows Phone 7 launch and we are integrating our KIN team with the Windows Phone 7 team."

Well, if the Kin team is joining forces to work with the Windows 7 phone, then there may finally be a phone I want. Was thinking about getting a Kin, but now I can happily wait. Big Grin
