HP TouchPad firesale thread

submitted on August 22, 2011 by orangearrows in "Products / Gadgets"
If you have any links/tips on where to get the HP touchpad please leave comments here.

Thanks in advance. This is the deal of the year Mr Green

About the OS - WebOs most probably will not be supported but XDA/RootWikiz engineers are working on porting Android IceCream OS to it. Very soon victory will be achieved.

If you have information about accessories - you can post them as a deal and maybe post the link here too. Would help.

Any updates of shipping confirmations / cancellations would also help

New egg is sold out, or has been sold out for a while. They say they will let you know if the price changes when you sign up for a price alert to your email. But that is a big "IF". If you click auto notify and try to order to even pay 399.99 for one, it shows in red that they are sold out. Sad

    HP SMB cancelled my order

Due to the large volume of orders, we have sold out of the HP TouchPad.

Your order was placed on Monday/Tuesday after the Sold Out message was posted on our webstore; therefore, we cannot fulfill your request and will be cancelling your order in the next 24 hours.

You may have seen a reserve hold for the amount of your order on your credit card. No actual charges have been made and this reserve hold will be released as soon as the order is cancelled. We are sorry for any inconvenience.

Well After I got my cancellation - I got another email telling me that my order is confirmed - no clue about what is happening.

BTW - I got a chance to test drive the touchpad last night - the hardware is solid and software is slick - wish they had more apps for it.

It was like Apple IOS and Android had a child - it had smoothness of IOS and the features of Android.

    Dear Customer,

Thank you for your interest in the HP TouchPad and webOS. The overwhelming demand for this product in recent days has made it difficult to fulfill your request at the present time, and we are working to make more available as soon as possible. While we do not yet have specific details, we know it will be at least a few weeks before we have a limited quantity available again. We will keep you informed as we have more specifics that we can communicate, and we encourage you to join the conversation here for the latest information. http://links.hp.com/u.d?OYGtu5.....aoid=82293

HP Small and Medium Business Customer,

Thank you for your interest in webOS and the HP TouchPad – the response to our price reduction has been overwhelming – both in terms of volume and in the energy and enthusiasm it has generated in our customers.

It has taken us longer than anticipated to work through the high volume of orders that were received. We apologize for any uncertainty this caused, but we are now in a position to understand our ability to fulfill your order.

Your order will be fulfilled at the discounted price. However, we do not have enough stock to satisfy your order at this time. It will take 6-8 weeks to build enough HP TouchPads to meet our current commitments, during which time your order will then ship from this stock with free ground shipping. You will receive a shipping notification with tracking number once your order has shipped. We apologize that these timelines are longer than indicated on the website at time of purchase.

At the significantly reduced price, the HP TouchPad does not qualify for our standard 30 day return policy and is not returnable.

If this delay is not acceptable, please send an email to TouchPadCancel@hp.com with your instructions for cancellation within a week. Be sure to include your HP order number and the name and ship-to address on the order. Also please indicate clearly if this is the only order requiring cancellation or if you wish all orders in your name to be canceled. You will receive an automated cancel notification when your order cancellation request has been processed. Please be aware, however, that cancellations cannot be reversed, and our US SMB store has sold out of HP TouchPad and will not make any further available for sale.

We are pleased that we will be able to fulfill your order and look forward to you joining the exciting community of webOS!

    Sincerely,
Your HP Small and Medium Business Team

Officemax just called. They have enough to fill cancelled/backorders orders. Anyone that ordered from officemax should call, or even if you didn't maybe you can get put on a secondary list should they have people that do not call to verify their original order(they only gave me two days).

I was hoping Barnes and Noble would also be honoring their cancelled orders but have not anything from them.

    TigerDirect has more. http://www.tigerdirect.com/ema.....1&inbeta=Y

My question again is one we discussed back in the summer. Is the HP Touchpad a great device or only a great device at firesale price levels. Would you buy this at $300? I suppose if you need a desktop or laptop it is not a bad add-on at $150. Are vendors taking advantage of the firesale-based product excitement and forgetting (or trying to dupe the consumer) that the pricepoint was leading sales, not the product?

The TD deal is not worth it. BB was offering the same deal minus the hassle of a rebate.
