submitted on October 15, 2010 by DebsFreebies in "Member's Lounge"
Located in Mumbai, the most expensive house in the world is owned (fittingly) by the richest man in India: Mukesh Ambani, age 53. He lives in the $1 billion skyscraper mansion with his wife, three children and 600 servants.

It has:

Private gym
Ballroom
50-seat movie theater
Health spa
Several swimming pools
3 helicopter pads

Geez, my little home is only worth about $4500 Amused

I'd like to see the inside of the metal mansion. I hope they had better taste for the inside living quarters.

Inside looks fabulous! Check out this interactive diagram to see what's on each floor - http://www.guardian.co.uk/worl.....lla-mumbai

The house, which he calls Antilia after a mythical island, has 400,000 square feet in 27 stories.
Just before they moved in, it was featured on The Fabulous Life Celebrity Real Estate Splurges.
(I kid you not!) Here's a brief tour (it's the second half of this video) -

It's 570 feet tall (taller than the Statue of Liberty), and was designed by architectural firms in Los Angeles and Dallas.

He owns 168 cars, so one floor houses the auto mechanic shop and 6 floors house the cars.

There are 9 elevators, and the family's 4-floor living quarters below the helicopter pads offer panoramic views of the city and the Arabian Sea. There are floors below that for guest quarters (maybe we could go visit...)

Their old house was only 22 stores high.

What an insane waste of money. This is what he'll be remembered for. I could think of a few other worthy things to do with that much money.

I think this falls under the gross excess category....if I had that much money, it wouldn't be all sunk in an ugly house with space I'd never use.
