Maybe this is the reason merchants create strict policies that affect honest coupon clippers, they have a legitimate reason to believe that customers are trying to cheat them.
This guy must have used a computer, scanner and thermal printer to create such good quality receipts that they could not be detected as fraudulent until the store scanned the bar codes. He was able to take a $300 air compressor and expensive electronics merchandise from 3 Walmart stores without paying for it, getting past greeters at the door and planning to sell the goods on the street, before investigators finally arrested him. It took weeks to catch him in a small town, can you imagine what he might have gotten away with in a big city???
He must have had accomplices, since other arrests are expected in the case.
