Teavana

submitted on January 29, 2010 by JackBauer in "Member's Lounge"
In the last deal I posted for Numi tea, I made mention to Teavana and figured some of you might not know what Teavana is.

Teavana is a store I discovered over a year ago in my local mall. I have always liked tea, but never knew the world that I was about to embark to. This store had literally 100 teas to choose from. Some are regulars and some a seasonal. Until discovering Teavana, I never thought to mix flavors of tea and wow, I was blown away. I thought I liked tea before, now I love tea. I think I am turning into a tea snob.

Everything at Teavana is fresh and they only sell loose teas. If you have a store near you, stop by, they always have samples available. They also have all the gadgets you need to make you tea.

If you like teas, I suggest you give Teavana a try. If you don't have a store near by, you can get everything via the web...www.teavana.com

Currently my two favorites are:

White Ayurvedic Chai Tea mixed with Samurai Chai Mate and I use German Rock Sugar to sweeten. Its a sweet, yet spicy mix

and

Cacao Mint Black Tea with German Rock Sugar. Very sweet, like a desert

The only drawback to Teavana is it can get real pricey, real quick. But it is sooooo worth it.

Finally, just as a point of reference, I do not work for Teavana,(some might remember, I work for a National Non-Profit) nor am I an investor. Just a tea snob...there I said it.

Jack, you say that you're a big tea drinker. Well, thanks to buxr i was recently introduced to Chai tea.

So i promplty went to Vons and bought 4 boxes of bigelow chai tea bags.

I was actually looking for an instant type thing like this sample: http://www.buxr.com/deal/free-.....hai+sample

But the only one i could find at vons was the tea bags which you have to mix with milk and i added a bit of vanilla to it.

What can you recommend that I can purchase and tell me more about this german rock sugar. I've never heard or seen this and it sounds intriguing.

I am pretty sure Starbucks has the instant chai you are looking for. It's made by Tazo and it is sold in the same container as the one you refer to. Tazo chai is also sold in stores near me. Speaking of Starbucks, they have a great drink that used to be on the menu and they will still make it for you, Apple Chai...It's half hot apple juice and half spiced Tazo Chai, very yummy.

As for German Rock Sugar, it's just like rock candy. Here is Teavana's description:

These pure, unprocessed sugar crystals are the best way to help enhance the natural sweetness of your tea without changing the flavor. Just add them to the tea leaves as your tea steeps for the best flavor. Includes one pound of German Rock Sugar.

      Each teaspoon contains 25 calories.

      Hope this helps.

Thanks Jack. I saw Tazo Tea at Vons but it was also bagged tea and cost more than the bigelow so I left it. Big Grin

I'll checkout starbucks and see what they got.

This picture helped. Today I went and bought 3 boxes of this tea at Vons. They're on sale for $1.99 a box if you buy 3. Plus I had 2 $1.00 off coupons.

I got one box of the tea bags, one of the concentrate and some red tea latte concentrate called Vanilla rooibos.

      This stuff is so good!
