Tax Records You Can Purge (Poll)

Now that Tax Day is over, its time to decide what to keep and what to toss. Certain rules apply depending on how you file your taxes.

That means that the bulging file of stuff from 2007 can now be purged, as that return was filed in 2008 and the three-year period ended this spring.

      Agreed. A couple of years ago I had the IRS tell me that I owed for 2001 taxes, but I had already purged my records. I ended up having to pay them thousands of dollars because I no longer had proof that my taxes were filed. Sad
