Tata's Nano To Come to US in 3 years.

The ultra-tiny and ultra-cheap Tata Nano could be headed to the U.S. in three years, according to Ratan Tata, chairman of Indian automaker Tata Motors.

As it would need additional safety features everyone is speculating that it would raise the price from $2,500 to close to $8,000. For around $8,000 would you purchase this car? Or would you go for something like a Kia Rio, Hyndai Accent which you can normally find for between high $9K to 11K?

Fuel efficiency would be 52 (city) - 61 (highway) mpg in the US with a 4-gallon fuel tank, and it's also low on emissions. The 5-door hatchback holds 4 people, but I'm thinking more like 2 plus groceries or gear in the back. Wonder how it compares in size and weight to the pricey Smart Car?

Driving one of these in Texas between the pickup trucks and big SUVs could be hazardous to my health!
