Taco Bell and PepsiCo Mix Mountain Dew with Orange Juice

How did I miss this news item????

Feeding off the popularity of energy drinks, Taco Bell and PepsiCo are both introducing a drink made with Mountain Dew and Orange Juice. Gizmodo called the Taco Bell concoction "the hydrogen bomb of fast food creativity," and it's already being sold with their breakfast menu until 11 am at 800 test locations in 14 states. If it proves to be popular, a nationwide rollout could come by 2014.
It's hard to imagine these flavors combining into something less than toxic. Have you tried it? If so, consider cutting down on your sugar intake for the rest of the day: OJ packs around 20 grams of sugar per cup, and The Dew holds a whopping 31 grams. A 16-ounce cup of Mtn Dew A.M. has 160 calories.
High fructose corn syrup is the second ingredient on the Mountain Dew label. By my calculations, there are 102 grams of sugar in Taco Bell's 16-oz breakfast drink, and nobody's even counting the caffeine levels.... Eeek At least it's low in sodium.

PepsiCo plans to introduce their Kickstart product in retail packaging next year, hoping to see double-digit sales increases like those companies marketing the Monster, Red Bull, and Rockstar energy drinks.

    Well that is just crazy!
PepsiCo lists their ingredients in Mt Dew as:

    Carbonated water
    High fructose corn syrup (HFCS)
Concentrated orange juice and other natural flavors
    Citric acid
    Sodium benzoate (preserves freshness)
Caffeine (55.2 mg per 12 oz.)
    Sodium citrate
    Gum arabic
    Erythorbic acid (preserves freshness)
Calcium disodium EDTA (to protect flavor)
    Brominated vegetable oil
    Yellow 5
mix it with OJ and it will make it better....don't think so!

You know, I'm surprised they haven't come out with caffeinated orange juice in the grocery stores.
OMG, that would be HUGE money-maker $$$!

I didn't even know that Taco Bell offered a breakfast menu. Maybe they should advertise that a little more along with their new fancy drink concoction.
