T-Mobile eliminates international data roaming fees

submitted on October 10, 2013 by YanBz in "Sales / Promotions", last updated on October 12, 2013 by YanBz
My mobile carrier is T-Mobile and I do once in a while go abroad, and so naturally the headlines caught my eye. The data roaming fees mobile companies charge you can be outrageously high. Last year I forgot to turn off navigation on my Android phone after we crossed the border with Canada and in about 5 minutes I cranked up around $50 in fees.

The fees will be eliminated for all Simple Choice individual and business customers starting October 31. T-Mobile is also reportedly reducing the international calling rates to 20 cents per minute for a list of about 100 countries.
1. Are you a T-Mobile customer?
2. Will this make you move to T-Mobile?

That is great for people who do travel internationally. I don't see that in my near future. I remember 15 years ago, getting roaming charges for going out of area in my own state. I am sure the other cell phone companies will eventually follow suit.
