Support Buxr

submitted on February 18, 2009 by phunkeey in "Buxr Website / Contests"
If we want to support Buxr by purchasing deals that are posted on the site, what is the best way to do this? Click the link and purchase directly? Or does it matter if we follow the link and shop around on a vendor's site before buying the item? I just bought a memory card after following the buxr link, but I shopped around first and was wondering how this works.

    Hi Phunkeey,

First of all, thanks for thinking about the site. In general when you click on a link on our site it's usually enough. If you go to other deal sites and click through their links, it may be reset.

Ok, thanks. By "shopping around" I meant that I looked at other items on the vendor's site (not other deal sites). I was wondering if a user has to purchase the item immediately after following the buxr link.

Yes, if you want us to get the commission you need to make sure you buy right after clicking on the Buxr product link. If you go to a different deal site in between then there is a chance the owners of that other website will benefit

Just wanted to clarify something. We don't get commission on everything you buy. In fact only a fraction (roughly 25%) of stores you see on our Stores page is affiliated. A couple popular stores that we get nothing from is Amazon and Fry's, and there are many many more

Huh... I would not mind knowing which ones are affiliated and which ones are not, as I might be inclined to shop at places that are supporting you guys, and vis-a-vis occasionally my own wallet.

Wow, I am humbly flattered and somewhat surprised this topic is gaining interest! Smile I will work on something to let you guys see which merchants are affiliated and which are not.

By the way, just to be totally open here. There are websites that will pay cash back on stuff you buy. I even wrote about those back in 2007 on my personal blog:

The list is no longer accurate but the post should give you the basic idea.

I am not trying to convince you to go use those instead. I just think I must mention them so you know there is an option. After all this is also a matter of convenience and personal preference. When I need to buy bread, I don't always go to Walmart. I either shop at Jewel because it is close (convenience), or go to our local bakery because I know and respect these guys (personal preference). You are free to choose what you like to do

Jewel has gotten very expensive. Since your a fellow Illinois resident, you should try "Woodman's" I do all my shopping there and found it to be cheaper and a bigger variety.

I agree w/Solstice. A list of retail stores would be good to have. I wouldn't mind helping out Buxr.

I think Phunkeey is asking about the clicks that get converted to a purchase. Does that bring any additional revenue to Buxr?

Sorry. You can surely shop around on the site and it will not affect our commissions.

I bought our daughter a GPS for Christmas and it was through Buxr with Amazon. Smiles were all around when she opened it. Big Grin
