Subway Puts Their Foot in Mouth Over Definition of "Footlong"

submitted on January 25, 2013 by HouTex in "Stores / Merchants"
Here's another example of the power of consumer protest!

After an Australian man complained in a Facebook post last week that his "footlong" Subway sandwich was only 11" long (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/.....89740.html ), two men in New Jersey and another in Chicago sued Subway over the same deception.

Following the Australian Facebook post, Subway Australia addressed the initial incident with a statement that said the "Footlong" is "not intended to be a measurement of length." Eeek (huh?)

Now they've clarified their position with a new statement:
"We have redoubled our efforts to ensure consistency and correct length in every sandwich we serve. Our commitment remains steadfast to ensure that every Subway Footlong sandwich is 12 inches at each location worldwide."
