Submitting Freebies - Rule Update

Going forward, please submit all freebies as 'Product' deals even if they come via a coupon. Set price to '0' and do not set shipping (leave it blank). Add "(in-store)" to the title of those freebies that required store visit.

This seems to make more sense as doing so enables us to filter out all freebies using the menu including those that are really coupons. It also helps me with assigning daily prizes properly (I recently awarded two freebie prizes by mistake since one of them was a coupon

).

Good tip, sandy! Now as 6 people added it to 'favored', note how appeared in the 'favored by most' list on the right hand sidebar (on the main discussion page)

*bump* So do we or do we not use "coupon" for a freebies? A deal got rejected last night because I submitted as a product and it was a coupon code.

No, your deal was rejected, because everything was inaccurate except for the tags.
When Admin run into that kind of large-scale editing needed we normally request a re-submit.

In this particular case a coupon post would be better since some people have to pay for shipping and some don't, so a shipping marker would prove problematic and unclear.

The only reason it was wrong on a large scale was because you insisted it be a coupon. OF COURSE it is going to be wrong if I am submitting it as a product like Yan said to for a freebie and you insist it is a coupon instead. Only on coupons you mention the merchants name in the title and put a coupon code in the coupon code field and Yan said it is a product because its a freebie. The only difference would be to add shipping, it doesnt mean that it is less of a freebie if you add shipping.

Admin had a minor round-table on these strange and rare coupon offers that necessitate shipping for some but not others, and it was concluded that the best solution would be to use the variable shipping marker under a product post. I will make the appropriate changes for you on the post.

Perfect example right here, almost an identical deal for 50 free pics using a coupon code and it is submitted as a freebie, not a coupon.

sareece, you were correct submitting your freebie as 'product' as per this very rule. Please do however take effort in filling in the rest attributes (like image and coupon code) properly. There were issues with your submission and I am surprised Solstice took the time to revert the reject and fix them all.

Since the required purchase was a computer of $699 or more, it seemed to be best presented as a sale. Following the same thinking as your recent submission for a "free with purchase" dessert, which you posted as a sale - http://www.buxr.com/deal/free-.....li-s_90704

My interpretation of this topic is that it addresses the issue of whether the freebie is sent directly to you or you get it using a coupon, it is still free for the purpose of awarding prizes. I think "free with purchase" is a little different subject.
