Smart Phone couponing

submitted on December 14, 2012 by equipurple in "Sales / Promotions"
I just had the experience of going to Bath and Body Works and showing a coupon (in the comments to the cashier on my smartphone and getting the discount. It is too rare when that happens, I think Fire+Ice may be the only other place I have done that.
What is your experience? Have you found stores willing to accept coupons and discounts presented in non-printed format? Does it seem to be store policy or just if the manager or employee feels like it?
Please tell us where. Perhaps this might be a nice wiki resource.

I use smart phone coupons at Michaels, Hobby Lobby and JoAnns alot. If you have the Shopkick app on your phone there are several stores that put coupons on there that you can use too.

Come to think of it I've done it at Denny's too. I just ask before I place my order if they will accept it. I have been denied before when it was a coupon for a free meal but every other time they've accepted them.

I always show coupons on my phone in kohls and Macy's.
If they get problem in scanning they put in the numbers or just give the discount.

I think we're going to see more of these coupons. It's a way that retailers and restaurants can send offers to a specific target group. There have been movie theater mobile coupons for quite some time now. Some of the coupon offers posted on Buxr that clearly state the option of showing the offer on your phone rather than printing it are from Old Navy, Macy's, Ann Taylor Loft, Sports Authority, Bath & Body Works, The Limited, H&M, Wet Seal, Delia's, Victoria's Secret, and Best Buy.
Among the restaurants that send mobile coupons are Quiznos, P.F. Chang's, Pei Wei, Einstein Bros., Caribou Coffee, Starbucks, and Champps.

Having the option to show the coupons on your phone is a big help if you're already out shopping and decide to use the offers, but forgot to print the coupons.
