This latest feature lowers the entry barrier and makes it even easier for anyone to join Buxr community. Starting today anyone with a Google Account can sign up to Buxr without having to go through the email verification process plus our current members using Gmail can sign in to Buxr via Google and don't have to worry about remembering another set of credentials.
How does it work?
This new functionality is possible thanks to OpenID which is a standard that deals with digital identities. Google is an OpenID provider which means everyone with a Gmail has an OpenID complied digital identity that can be used to sign in to other websites supporting OpenID.
To sign in to Buxr using your Google account, go to the usual login page at buxr.com/login and click on the 'sign in' button under the Google logo. You will be redirected to Google website where you should sign in to your Google account as you usually do. After you sign in Google will inform you that Buxr is requesting your email information (see the screen shot below). You should click 'Allow'.
What happens next depends on whether you have a Buxr account or not, and what email address is configured in the Buxr Account screen (in case you do have a Buxr account).
1. If you have an account and the email address matches Gmail address you are signing in through then you will be logged in to Buxr (and redirected to home page)
2. If you don't have a Buxr account or if the email in your Buxr Account page doesn't match the Gmail you use to login then you will see this screen:
a) if you don't have a Buxr account then use the form on the left to pick your new Buxr username and off you go
b) if you are already a Buxr member then use the form on the right to sign in to your existing Buxr account. Once you do so your Google account will be linked to your Buxr account and you will be able to use either one to sign in to Buxr
