Nice list Debs. Alot of these places would probably do alot better if they would just drop prices during the hard times. A fast nickel is always better than a slow dime.
It's a very sad situation, especially for stores we really like. Once the business is in decline, it's very complicated to recover. While big-discount promotions may please bargain-hunting customers, reducing prices (often below cost) to move product and generate revenue cannot keep the business open. When their operating expenses far exceed their income, they can no longer get a line of credit to pay for new merchandise.
