Server Upgrade - January 11, 4:30am

submitted on January 10, 2009 by YanBz in "Buxr Website / Contests"
We have scheduled a server upgrade for January 11, 4:30am. The site will go off-line for about 2-3 hours and if everything goes smoothly the next morning we will have a faster more powerful Buxr, capable to handle more hot deals and more shoppers than ever! Wink

Sorry about the longer than expected downtime. We didn't think it would take our hosting provider over 6 hours to install a RAID array on the server. Sad

Here is an apology from our correspondence with them to make you feel better Wink

    Hello,

We apologize for this delay. Typically, it doesn't take that much time. We are currently migrating data from /home partition. We have been constantly working on this server and to get your accounts up. Please pardon us and we shall update you as soon as everything is completed.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation. Have a great day!!!

    Regards,
    Technical Support
    CaroNet Managed Hosting

The important thing is that the site is now up and we hope to see everyone back soon!

Nothing was supposed to change. This is just a move to a faster server.

My apology to everyone who were trying to get to the site on Monday morning and couldn't. The upgrade went totally wrong, everything that could break has broken. As the result:

    1. We had to re-install the server twice (once originally for the upgrade and the second time after it crashed Sunday night)
    2. I didn't sleep the entire night before Monday
    3. We are still finding issues here and there (thanks to Steve for pointing that Price Grabber links are not working and everyone else who reported issues)

Buxr is up now and has no issues that I am aware of. The server it runs on has double the memory of the old server and also utilizes Hard Drive RAID array for redundancy & backup. We hope this will speed it up a bit and also will take care of the downtimes we were experiencing in the month before upgrade.

Try now. It seems to work but takes longer than other stores.
I will keep looking at it to find out what is going on
