Very nice article. I am surprised (pleasantly) by the relatively small difference in price between whole bean and ground per cup.
Also, it brings into focus a comparison of a single-serve (Keuring, Senseo, Tassimo) machine being significantly less expensive per year than store-bought, even with purchasing the machine.

I have a Keuring machine but I don't use it any longer. Can't stand having to throw all those used up cups to trash every day when I can easily avoid it with just a bit of an effort

You can ship it here. One in my wife's non-profit office recently died, and some people have resorted to going to Starbucks again. K-cups are recyclable, no?

I don't think you can recycle them, unless you rip each apart and remove the used up coffee.

I LOVE coffee. Personally, I like grinding the beans and having the freshness. I also like experimenting with making various coffee blends from different beans. It is so aromatic....drinking coffee is more than just taste. It is an experience Mr Green

My friends don't believe I do this. I make a 12 cup pot of coffee. I have a Cuisinart and it makes great coffee. I drink a cup and then refrigerate the rest after it cools down. I then nuke a cup each morning. It lasts me about four or five days and "yes" it still tastes fresh! I am then not cleaning a coffee pot daily or throwing coffee away.

I will have to try this out. I've thrown away my fair share of unused brewed coffee.

I never have anything to refrigerate afterwards and when I do brew coffee, it's usually 2 pots a day.

I drink a lot of coffee! Probably more than I should

I am with midget, but when reheating, I prefer to put the coffee pot back on the coffeemaker burner, rather than nukrowaving it.

I use a small coffee press that is good for 2-3 coffee cups. It is very easy to clean and there is no waste whatsoever other than used up ground coffee.
