Retailer uses 3D QR codes and the sun to deliver highly targeted discounts

It appears Korea is far ahead of the US as far as coupons are concerned.

Korean retail chain Emart recently placed 3D QR code sculptures throughout the city of Seoul that could only be scanned between noon and 1 pm each day — consumers who succeeded were rewarded with discounts at the store during those quiet shopping hours.

    Nifty idea! I'm guessing the QR codes are correctly readable only when there are no shadows or very clearly demarcated shadows (unlike the image above)?
