There are recycling vendors you can sign up with that may or may not be in your local area. You can send in your electronics to recycle. Then there is something called Kashless (which I have not yet explored) which seems to be like freecycle with points.

http://kashless.org/signup -register, then go to rewards and click saved searches. You get 10 points for each saved search, and can earn up to 300 a week. The points take a day to show up.

I've looked into all of those options, I didn't have any local recyling that participated. Confused No electronics to recycle Confused

I will have to look more into the kashless I browsed at it and it didn't really have any good descriptions of what it did until you signed up. Guess I'll have to register Big Grin

Take the bonus points and see what happens from there. Maybe their newsletter will point you to something wonderful!

You can also earn additional RecycleBank Points with the Gconomy Visa Card, see details about that at http://www.recyclebank.com/earn/thegconomycard
We are fortunate to be part of a curbside recycling program, so we earn points determined by a sensor in the bin that measures the contents of the bin each time they empty it.
Every once in a while we get some notice about how to earn bonus points, so I think anyone who has signed up for RecycleBank should get them, too.

BTW, our recycling efforts so far (only a few months) have saved 0.71 trees* and 47.43 gallons of fossil fuel.** It would be nice to at least save a whole tree...... Confused

*Every 17 trees saved means 1 ton (1 ton = 2,000 pounds) of paper have been recycled.

**The fossil fuel (oil) has been saved by recycling plastic, aluminum and glass. So for approximately every 3 pounds of plastic, aluminum and glass that are recycled, one gallon of oil is saved.

The program is going downhill I assume because other people that found it first have been abusing and signing up for more accounts than they should.

Now I just found it and you only get 40 points to sign up. None of the promo codes found online work anymore. The Kashless has cut way down on the points they give out and the amount of points it takes to get prizes has gone up ($1 coke is now 40).
