Recommended Freezer Storage Times May Be Longer Than You Think (Take a Poll)

submitted on June 3, 2015 by HouTex in "Products / Gadgets"
When we stock up on a lot of perishable items on sale, we often have to freeze the extras. Or maybe some of us prepare meals ahead for convenience. I happened to see this chart that suggests we can actually store many frozen items longer than we previously thought, and wanted to share it - http://www.huffingtonpost.com/.....84608.html

Probably the most important factor in successfully freezing foods is how we wrap them. I'm really careful to double- and triple-wrap things to keep the air out and prevent freezer burn, and this has helped me store foods longer. I found some good tips for preparing foods for freezing at http://www.ag.ndsu.edu/pubs/yf/foods/fn403.pdf and http://www.ag.ndsu.edu/pubs/yf/foods/fnw616.pdf

I also found some free printable labels at http://www.freezerlabels.net/f.....er-labels/
