Free Retrofit Kits for Roman Shades and Rollup Blinds

submitted on December 16, 2009 by HouTex in "Products / Gadgets"
The U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission and the Window Covering Safety Council Announce a Voluntary Corrective Action Plan regarding the dangers of cords from window coverings such as roman shades or mini blinds that can form a loop and cause strangulation of small children. If you have any of the types involved, you can request free retrofit kits for the cords that will keep them out of reach of small children. These include free cord stops, tassels and tie-down devices, along with a safety brochure containing retro fit instructions. You may order up to 5 of any of 5 styles online by completing the form, or you may phone your order to the Window Covering Safety Council's toll-free number at 1-800-506-4636.

Note: There's a link on that page to the site offering free retrofit kits, but it must be busy and does not always load, so here is hopefully a more reliable direct link to the kit request form -
