Quick Tips for Submitting Winning Deals

submitted on February 8, 2009 by MikeG in "Member's Lounge"
Here are some quick ideas for submitting deals that win:

1. Submit unique products that are not listed multiple times on Buxr. Submitting a 8GB flash drive that is 10 cents cheaper than the previous 5 submissions is unlikely to gain much attention.

2. Write valuable descriptions. Instead of just copying the description from the merchant, add some of your own commentary to the description as to why it is a good deal.

3. Vote for good deals submitted by others. I can not stress this enough. If you do not vote other legitimately good deals, you can not expect people to consider your deals.

4. If you really like the deal, leave a comment saying so. If you can add another reason as to why the deal is hot, that helps even more.

5. Try to be as accurate as possible when describing the deals. Nothing kills a potential up vote than a misleading deal submission. Double check price, rebates, and description.

There is obviously a lot more.. Would love to hear your thoughts.

Also products that could be seen as "must haves" that would make life easier gain allot of attention.

Yep. I think popular products will probably do well.

Here is one more tip. When submitting a 'Product' deal, make sure you add (or at least try to add) price comparison widget. Seeing the deal at higher price sold by a few other stores always helps to convince everyone that your deal is hot.

Here are some tips on how to do it:

The best way to search for a product is by the brand and model number. For example if the title is "DeLonghi MCH710T Multi-Position Ceramic Heater" try searching for "DeLonghi MCH710T" or just "MCH710T". In the search results list, don't forget to click on the matching product to highlight your selection, this will enable the Price Grabber widget on the deal page after you submit your deal (and in the preview). If your search returns several products, select the one that matches visually. If a couple of products match visually (yes, this happens sometimes) then select the one that is offered by more stores.

Another tip would be to use a high quality image when submitting. There are a couple of tricks for this:

    1. Google the product name or merchant, and then click on "images" up top. You can usually find some nice pics there.

    2. If it's a general product, search Amazon. They usually have higher quality images.

Great tips!! I especially like #3, I don't know how many times that has been brought up, but some people just don't get it.

These are really good tips. There is only one thing I'd add to the list and it's simply because it's become a habit of mine -- when I see a deal with a really good price I check the reviews, even when they aren't available at the link provided by the submitter. If you know the product is a good price and has good customer reviews then you know the merchant isn't just trying to clear a product by offering it for a low price. You really should share that information.
