Question about limited use codes

submitted on February 2, 2010 by midget in "Member's Lounge"
Some merchants put up codes like Meritline and Dell, that are only good for a certain number of times - let's say 800 uses.

Does that mean it's good until 800 people use the code to purchase the item or until 800 people use the code out while checking discount and/or purchasing item?

The codes must actually be "used" in the sense that you complete the checkout process with it.

You would have 800 uses in this example, but an infinite number of people could check the code.

Pretty sure that it is 800 purchases, because it would be hard to keep track of the people just checking.

I am pretty sure you need to buy the item to actually use the coupon code

ok, thanks for answering this. I wasn't sure and thought maybe each time we tested a code we were messing it up for someone who might want to purchase an item.
