Product vs Sale

submitted on March 5, 2014 by djhciskoski in "Buxr Website / Contests"
Can you please explain the difference? I don't understand how a "product" on sale is a product submission and not a sale submission.

i am guessing here but i assume that because it is a single item versus it being a group of items on sale or an entire site on sale. i agree, at times it is confusing.
i recently posted a freebie gift with purchase as a "product" but several flagged it to say i should have posted it as a "sale" instead since it required an item purchase.

    i am still learning. Wink

Normally if it's a single item or group of items that are all on sale for the same price, we post as a "product." Then we have the fields to enter original and sale pricing as well as shipping information. "Sale" deals are usually a group of items with a % off discount or BOGO offer applied to all of them that would result in different prices for each item. Another case that is considered a "sale" is a free item that requires an additional purchase to get it.

Although this is not what you asked, for clarity I'd also like to add a little information regarding free items that require a coupon - for the purpose of awarding prizes - any item that is totally free and requires no other purchase should be posted as a "product" rather than a "coupon."

    Hope this helps!

    Ok...getting it.
Now, when you (I) post a product and I want to add a comparison, what do I do when nothing shows up to compare? Add the URL that I have found? Was trying to do that yesterday and I could not get any comparisons to show.

Sometimes pricegrabber does not show anything to compare. I usually try the model number and other terms (different from the title) before giving up. I always try to add it for anyone's deals if I can. Then, yes, I would add a link for comparison in comments.

Here's an example for a product that didn't show any pricegrabber results -

Obviously there is a little overlap in the categories. This is just the way we classify them on Buxr. So when visitors to the site click on the coupon, sales, or freebies tab they will get the right group of deals. The shipping marker is important, too, even when it's free it must be set so the "free shipping" tab will show the right deals.
