Problems with SALE deal submission

submitted on December 22, 2009 by equipurple in "Buxr Website / Contests"
Trying to add a SALE. Step 4 asks for a price, which is not needed for a sale posting. Going back to step 1 shows items submitted as PRODUCT.
Is it me or the system?

When that happened to me, I think it was because the system auto-detected the deal page as a PRODUCT. At that time, admins said to go ahead and submit it, and then flag the deal and ask admins to change the deal type for you to a SALE.

Here is what happened. For each deal submission, Buxr attempts to identify product id from the URL. For some merchants (like Staples) the page itself is analyzed. In this particular case Buxr found the chair as the first item on the page and made a conclusion that you are submitting the chair as a deal. As the result the deal type was changed to "Product" and you were forced to enter the price.

I probably need to give this sequence another look. It was originally put in place to avoid inaccurate submissions by new members who would often use 'sale' in place where a 'product' was needed. Also, product id detection needs an overhaul. It is clearly not working in this particular case.
