Private Messaging

submitted on June 18, 2009 by JackBauer in "Buxr Website / Contests"
Is there any way to get private messaging on Buxr? I found it very helpful on Mike's other site. I think it would add to the community feel of the site and allow us to speak to other Buxr users without having to post a message for all to see.

Hmm, I can clearly see a utility for private messaging but I am not sure at all how this is helping the community feel. My concern is that private messaging can be used as a tool to circumvent the contests.

I second Yan in a way. It might encourage private discussions which would give rise to speculations and people would start forming groups in order to vote up or down some deals. It's not a bad idea at all but the anonymity and neutrality that we share towards the deals might be jeopardized at some point downstream.. Smile This is just my opinion and what I think.

I'm normally the long-winded one, but at this stage in Buxr's development I'll simply provide a short "no".

Sometimes I wish it were available when there is a question about deal submission but then again, this is how I learn...from my mistakes and comments made on other's submissions.

I think asking questions about deal submission in the discussion area can help everyone, and everyone can help you. There have been some very good discussions about deal submissions in the past. I've added quite a few of those topics to my favorites, so I can find them easily for reference.

Have you tried the feedback link at the bottom of every deal? With that option, you are directing your question to an admin, and they will reply to you by email.

I've used this quite a bit and it really helps when i have a question about submissions.

I think discussing the deal on the deal page itself will help big time.

Yeah, private messaging is a great feature but I guess not for this particular site. SO I say No...
