Priority Google Voice invites for students

submitted on May 14, 2010 by YanBz in "Sales / Promotions"
Google has just announced priority invites for students.

So starting today, we’ll be giving priority Google Voice invites to students. To get an invite, just visit google.com/voice/students and enter an email address that that ends in .edu. So if you’re a student, submit your email address and a Google Voice invite will arrive in your inbox within 24 hours.

I have been using Google Voice for a couple years now and it is an invaluable service for those situations when you need to give a phone number to a stranger (think posting a resume or selling stuff online)

I love it all except for the voice to text translator. It is really horrible. Trying to read a voicemail is hard to do since words are broken up, and sometimes don't complete. I have heard that they are planning a fix for that soon though.

True, the translator does a poor job, but the message sounds fine when I listen to it.

Yesterday (6/22/10) Google announced that Voice is not only free but now open to the public.
No more need for invitations. See all the great features -

Here are the sign-up options, you can get just voice mail with free transcription added to your cell phone number, or choose a new number with call screening, ability to block callers, and linking to all your existing numbers.
