Why is everybody posting perfectly viable deals in the discussion arena lately?

Is it just to gain the extra points off of thread votes?

It seems to kind of be defeating the purpose or deal listings, and there is no chance of winning a prize. Additionally, it makes more difficult for visitors and shoppers to locate them later.

Thanks, Solstice. I did not think that a dollar off a box of tissues rose to the level of a deal. Do others disagree as well? I am happy to post wherever makes most sense!

I have basically the same thoughts as equipurple, things I think are interesting but not main stream, things which are in itself a deal but certainly not great, things that may start a discussion, things I haven't vetted fully, or things which I believe could easily lead to negative votes and lastly deals which are very regional.

I hear you on those points, but I don't think any of those cover this case, or many others that have been popping up recently in the discussion forum. However, an analysis may be called for...

They weren't directly tied to this post, but as to a understanding of why I post some deals in the discussion board instead of the deals section as a whole.

I think a decree from above could help us out.

Okay, just for fun, and the sake of argument... Big Grin

100% of the U.S. population uses facial tissues at some point. (Facial tissue is main stream.)
100% of the U.S. population could use this coupon if desired. (Assuming their local stores carry it.)
The coupon prints, is usable, and could have easily been vetted fully.
I don't think anyone here is going to have an in depth conversation about facial tissue.
Nobody with half a brain would vote this coupon down, although they may not vote it up?

Darn, I hit submit by accident, and ran out of edit time. I was on a roll. Big Grin

For those than are newer, and don't yet know, I've taught debate in the past. Wink

This comment is not directed at this particular posting, but the use of discussion area for "deal" items in general. I agree that this is a perfectly acceptable deal item that would appeal to everyone. Do we feel that a certain value coupon is too low? Certainly not $1 off any item, which could be used in combination with a sale to get that item almost free.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but perhaps deals should only be posted in the discussion area if they have limited scope (available only in 1 state, or for small group of the population). Any other thoughts?

I would tend to agree on those points, HouTex, and don't ever get off your roll, Solstice. I guess my prejudice on this one is that grocery shopping deals are generally not what I look for here (or post deals). Grocery freebies are frequent enough, but they are freebies.
