The old thread got pretty lengthy and out of date so I thought it would be appropriate to start a new one in 2011. Anyway, many of you are familiar with the concept of Power Users. For the newcomers, here is some reading material: http://www.buxr.com/wiki/power_users/start

Going forward, I will use this thread to announce new additions to the Buxr Power Circle - pun intended

The idea is to give the community more power. To understand why things are organized the way they are you should know a bit of the Buxr history. In the past Buxr was a regular "run of the mill" deal site where just me (and my former partner Mike) could post the content. It was a big step for us when we opened it up for others 2-3 years ago to share the shopping deals they themselves find online. The next iteration of this idea is allowing members to participate in the site administration (e.g. via verifying and updating deals posted by other members). Ideally we would like everyone to be able to do so and have the kinks worked out by the community (just like Wikipedia does it) however it is not very practical due to the huge overhead it produces and the complex framework it requires. So instead of going with this complete democracy we went with the next best thing: granting the powers to select trusted members (which I should say is the majority of all active members).
