These are hard-core Chikin fans!
Last week, when a new Chick-fil-A restaurant opened in Holly Springs, N.C., 150 fans camped out in the parking lot in an effort to get a year’s supply of free food. Many spent nearly 24 hours in their tents or playing games in the parking lot with other campers! The first 100 people in line when the restaurant opened got free food from Chick-fil-A for a year (one meal a week). That's 52 Chick-fil-A sandwiches with waffle fries and a drink. It's a prize worth about $260, plug bragging rights.
A St. Petersburg resident said he had waited in line 34 times for a grand opening prize. Some people drove from Virginia and South Carolina to attend the grand opening. A Virginia native, who claims he is the restaurant’s No. 1 fan, was attending his 40th grand opening. His goal is to attend 50 openings by the time he and his wife celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary next year.
And Dan Cathy, president of Chick-fil-A and son of the founder, was right there with them; he pitched his tent in the drive-thru lane. If you'd like to join the next camp-out, the list of openings is posted on their web site at www.chick-fil-a.com/?#insidersopenings
