One-Wheeled Scooter

It looks like half a motorcycle, but this one-wheeled contraption is actually pretty awesome looking. And it's quite impressive to see someone scooting around on a single wheel so comfortably.
A US company called Ryno Motors has built a one-wheeled electric scooter that uses a gyroscope to keep itself upright, like a Segway. The device, which is called the Ryno, requires you to lean forward to accelerate and backward to decelerate. http://www.wired.co.uk/news/ar.....ed-scooter

The idea for making this one-wheeled scooter came from Chris Hoffman's thirteen year old daughter, Lauren, who had seen one-wheeled bike in a video game and wanted to ride one to school.

The company is preparing to launch it on the market. This electric scooter will have a range of up to 30 miles, a maximum speed of 25 miles and a recharge time of 90 minutes.

The one wheeled contraption weighs merely 75kg and can cope with slopes of up to 30 percent before it starts getting confused. The manufacturer is set to launch it on the market soon with a price tag of £2,250. And this vehicle is not only a cost effective solution for the low speed urban transport but also greener and fits well in the cramped city spaces.

That's $3,482.67 USD.
Pretty cool, cheaper than a Segway.

I don't understand how you could drive it easily in a lot of cities. I know my city doesn't have a bike lane but bike riders are not allowed to ride on the sidewalk either. When they ride on the road they almost get hit by cars that aren't paying attention a lot. So you put one of these on the roads and I would think about the same thing would happen. Except for this is only on one wheel and I would think would be easier to fall off of.
