    I have question, why do you not like that you have to prove this?

      Its not that I do not like that I have to prove my military service. Its that I do not like the idea of submitting a DD214 (discharge papers) over the internet. It has EVERYTHING on there. Your full legal name, SSN, address, DOB, date of service, all your campaign medals, your unit, etc. etc. etc. I would gladly take it some where and show it as proof, possibly even mail a copy, but not over the internet.

      There is also the issue of people stealing the form and doctoring it. When that happens it is called "stolen valor" and it has happened recently. There is also a LOT of veterans that use doctored DD214's to gain VA benefits that they do not deserve, such as claiming they have PTSD when they have never served in a war zone or doctoring the DD214 to say they were honorably discharged when they were not. Either way you never know who's hands it will end up in, especially over the net.

      Its just one of those manic, crazy things that they beat in my head that has never left me.
