Newspapers Decline in Readership

submitted on March 15, 2011 by CouponNut in "Member's Lounge"
Newspaper revenues suffer as more and more advertising takes over on-line. The economic downturn has more people choosing to find news, information and advertising on-line for convenience and nonetheless going green without the paper. Newspapers are taking a hit on the economy with advertisers cutting back causing the newspaper industry to cut back on staff. As newspapers analyze their rate of decline, many nationwide have decided to charge a subscription fee for reading their newspaper on-line.

A great idea, but its nice to have a hard copy of the newspaper while sipping on coffee at the café or traveling back & forth to work on public transportation. Nothing like walking around with a newspaper under your arm to read whenever you feel like it without detecting a nearby Wi-Fi or trying to read the news on an itty bitty screen.

Even though newspaper sales are on the decline, well from what I see the price keeps going UP with very little incentive for a new subscriber to order home delivery.
