New Walmart Coupon Policy - You'll Like Some of the Changes!

Walmart has updated their coupon policy with some new rules that should please everybody!

Two of the new changes I liked include the following:

• They will accept manufacturers' checkout coupons printed at competitors' registers (called "Catalinas")
- and -
• Coupons may exceed the price of the item! Change may be given or applied toward the cost of the basket purchase.

They will not accept print-at-home Internet coupons that require no purchase or
competitors’ coupons for dollars/cents or percentage off, buy one get one free, and double- or triple-value coupons

Used to, if you brought in the ad for a competitor, they'd price match.

The one I like is "We do not honor other retailers' "Misprinted" advertised prices."

Ummm...so who decides it is a misprint????

Well I like the overage being applied...

But

They will not accept print-at-home Internet coupons that require no purchase

That means certain freebies will no longer work, right? Not good - since Walmart was the only local store that honored those freebie coupons. Or am I misunderstanding the meaning?

I think you interpreted it correctly. But manufacturers are starting to mail out the free item coupons, printed with holograms to insure their authenticity. Walmart will also not accept BOGO coupons printed from the Internet, but I have been able to use those at Kroger with manager approval.

I do like that they will accept printed coupons from competitors, but I'm expecting to have to show them a copy of their own policy in my local store at first.

I wish they would match the BOGO's from competitors! Publix in Florida takes other store's coupons. Winn Dixie will print out a $5 off $30 purchase coupon for another visit. Publix will accept that coupon.

Thanks for the clarifications...
Will walmart take printed coupons for items that are not free?
I love using all my kroger coupons at publix. There was a new kroger that opened up the street from my house and they send me coupons all the time. I like publix better for most things because the items are ordered in smaller quantities, therefore are always fresher. Plus they always accept my coupons without problems usually. I got $10 off $80 from kroger and coupons for free items of kroger brand products that publix said they would accept for publix brand products.

Here is a suggestion for everyone:

Since Walmart has updated the coupon policy, I encourage everyone to Email, Fax and even call Walmart CEO on complimenting the change on policy. Also, please share your horrible experience with Michael Duke. Ask him for his advice on making your future shopping experience smooth as possible avoiding past experience of you and others. Lastly, share this thread, other thread and blogs.

Our Walmart will not accept internet printed coupons at all because of too much fraud.

I've had Walmart cashiers try to deny my coupons here, but I always call a manager over to get them accepted.

I don't understand retailers' rationale for refusing "free-product" coupons printed at home, yet accepting "cents-off" coupons from the same source.

Harris-Teeter grocer follows this schizophrenic policy which played out in a ridiculous scenario a couple of weeks ago. I had a home-printed coupon for a free container of sour cream which both cashier and management refused. I then handed over a home-printed "75-cent" coupon for same item which H-T swiftly honored (at triple face value during a promo). So, not only did I end up getting the item for free anyway, but I received a little bit of extra money to use toward the remainder of my bill.

Here's my take on Walmart! Thanks for accepting other store's coupons but how about having staff available to accept the coupons. Case in point...Friday at 7:15 AM. Remember they are open all night at the Super Centers. I have to be at work by 7:45. There are two registers open and nine or ten people in each line. I have one item. The others have full baskets. I see a woman down by the exit who looks like she might be getting ready to open. I go down to her lane and she tells me she has to get her bags filled and in order."Are you kidding me!" I point to the other two lines and she rings me up. She wasn't happy! It's worth my time to go to Publix where if there are three people in line they will open another register. Thanks my Buxr "Peeps" for letting me vent!
