We all know the typical Walgreens, with cosmetics, greeting cards, candy and prescriptions. But a new downtown Chicago location that opened today is nothing like that. The two-story 27,000 square foot flagship store has a sushi bar, a bakery, a coffee bar, juice bar, frozen yogurt, fresh produce, nail salon, wine and liquor, cheese, and even a tobacco humidor!

There's an iPad health guide in the pharmacy and a Virtual Makeover kiosk in the cosmetic area.
This is a far cry from the original store that opened at this site in 1926 with a cafeteria and a soda fountain. Walgreens acquired Duane Reade in 2010 and borrowed the concept for this new store from the Duane Reade store on Wall Street in New York.
Of course, you can still get your prescriptions filled, but in this location you have a lot more to amuse you while you wait!
Maybe Yan or some of our community in the Chicago area will check it out for us!
