Need help finding digital camera for my sister

submitted on February 10, 2010 by busant20 in "Member's Lounge"
Since I don't have any knowlegde about digital camera, so I need your help finding a digital camera for my sister.
She asked me because I always find better deals (better than her). She gave me the options:
1. Nikon Coolpix S570,
2. Kodak Easyshare C190, or
3. Canon Powershot A1100 IS.
Again, I don't know anything about digital cameras. So, might be some of you know about cameras above, can explain which one the best, any negative/ positive, or anything, I would really appreciate it.
Or might be you have any suggestion about any other camera.
FYI: my sister' budget is under $150.
Thank you so much everybody.

I generally look to cnet reviews when asked to compare or evaluate specific models. They have reviewed the Nikon and the Canon.

I would go with either the Nikon or Canon. All three brands are comparable in picture quality, but I have noticed that most Kodak point and shoots are not very durable.

There was recently a post on Buxr blog about digital cameras. You might want to check some tips there

Would recommend the Canon PowerShot A1100IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera any day.

@$149.00 it's a good buy but sometimes ( rarely) it drops. If I remember correctly it dropped to about $129 @newegg. Keep an eye out. Also reading the reviews on amazon helps a lot.

I would check Shopko if you can. I just bought a $200 camera there yesterday on clearance for $90. Then I was able to get a 2 year protection plan that covers EVERYTHING (including my kids flushing it, as long as I can get it out) for $10 more. After dropping my last camera for the first time and it breaking, $10 to be covered for 2 years is awesome. That's the cheapest protection plan I've seen anywhere.

Thank you guys for helping my sister to find a camera. I told her that best option is Canon, but finally she picked Kodak Easyshare C190 from buy.com (the main reason is the price).

Oh well, at least I helped her already. Nothing I can do.
Once again, thanks guys. Wink Wink
