Need advice for lawn mover.

submitted on September 21, 2010 by arzkar in "Member's Lounge"
I just moved in a house with a medium size yard and I'll need a lawn mover, but I have no idea about them. So I need your advice which one is better gas or electric ?
Thank in advance.

Electric mowers are not a bad investment, but they have one drawback- no lawn care. They basically float above your grass and cut the blades, but there is no pressure on the ground. This is necessary to have if the grass is difficult to grow or there are bad nutrients. The weight of a gas mower will put pressure on the ground as you are mowing, producing much healthier grass overall. Hope this helps a little. Cool

I recommend that you buy a goat. They're lovable and better for the environment.

But seriously, Craftsman gas mowers and also anything with a Honda engine are good bets as they are very reliable.

Electric mowers are still too expensive plus replacing the battery will cost you some. I had a cordless electric trimmer and the battery lasted only 4 seasons with a very moderate use - something to consider if you go with an cordless mower.

Guys I'm sure Arzkar appreciates your advice but you totally misread the request. They want a lawn MOVER, not mower!

I would go with something like above, you get a big and a small tool for use in hard to reach areas.
