Microsoft scraps upgrade editions of Office 2010

Hard luck for users that already own older version

Microsoft has revealed it will not be offering 'upgrade' editions for its Office 2010 software, which is due to launch later this year.

'Upgrade' editions are the discounted versions of the software for users who already have an earlier edition on their PCs. The move will effectively raise the price for many users who want to migrate from older editions of the popular suite.

Well, guess I will have to invest in 2009 then finally. I've been holding out for as long as possible, and I'm still using the Microsoft Office 2000 suite bundle.

Maybe I will just try switching to Open Office and abandoning Microsoft Office all together.
