Michigan Scanner Law.... Any Other states have this?

submitted on December 3, 2009 by mcgirl4 in "Member's Lounge"
I am from Michigan and we have the following law:

http://www.michigan.gov/ag/0,1.....--,00.html

I was just curious if anyone else's state had something similar.

I've made off with a couple free products and then some free money off of this. Sometimes on purpose! Big Grin

No, but I do miss that law very much Cry It was a shock when I moved down here and I tried to use it and they looked at me like I was stupid. But I guess I was thinking it was "everywhere".

@emma the scanner refers to in store purchases. Not for when sites have incorrect pricing online.

@mcgirl in KY now have been 10 years.

Give em a call and see how hard the agent laughs at you. Maybe record it and you could become the next internet viral star! Mr Green

I called them and they said the price is $669. They have a pricing error coverage:

While we try to ensure accuracy, we reserve the right to correct any errors in pricing or descriptions, and to cancel or refuse to accept any order based on an incorrect price or description. Such corrections may be made even after an order is accepted.

Massachusetts law says that all items must have an individual price sticker. Stores can be fined if in violation. Most supemakets (Shaw's, Stop & Shop) have a pricing accuracy guarantee. If something scans at a higher price than advertised, you get one free and others at the advertised price.

I wish we had that law here! I have been mis-charged twice in the past week for items at the store.

Don't know if it is a law or not, my local Jewel grocery store will give me the item free if the cashier overcharges at checkout. Worked two times so far, both were small items (within $5)
